I want this cosmetic procedure, but surgery scares me.
I’m concerned about the risks.
Is it safe?
These are all common concerns we’ve heard from patients in the past. Cosmetic surgery sees millions of procedures performed each year, and in most cases, the biggest “risks” are bruising and slight discomfort after the procedure. That being said, with any surgery, there are always potential risks involved. To alleviate these risks, we advise our patients to do the proper amount of research before pursuing cosmetic surgery:
- Check your surgeon’s background. As you search for the right plastic surgeon for you, research their training and accomplishments, and find out if they are a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. Dr. Klein, for instance, underwent rigorous testing to demonstrate his medical knowledge and earn certification by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Klein is also a member of numerous medical organizations including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
- Take a look at patient testimonials. What are other patients saying about your plastic surgeon? If you see that former and current patients are praising a surgeon’s work, as well as the personal attention and understanding they offer, you might just have found a great match.
- Get to know your surgeon. Plastic surgery is personal, and your relationship with your plastic surgeon should be one of experience and understanding. Meet your plastic surgeon, and get to know them a little bit better. Although the internet can be very helpful, meeting your future surgeon in person will let you know if you’re comfortable with this surgeon and if they fully understand your goals. At HKB Renaissance Plastic Surgery, we offer free consultations. During these consultations, patients have the opportunity meet us, talk to us, and get to know us a little bit better.
