Lip Lift in Charlotte, NC
Just like the rest of the face, the lips can begin to droop and sag with age. Fortunately, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Klein and board-eligible plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Kochuba offer the effective lip lift procedure to help patients correct these changes. At HKB Renaissance Plastic Surgery, we offer lip lift surgery to the residents of Charlotte, Harrisburg and Salisbury, NC.
What is a Lip Lift?
A lip lift is a lip rejuvenation surgery that is performed either to address signs of aging in the lips or to enhance their overall appearance. For older patients, a lip lift can correct the drooping and sagging that develops with age. In these cases, the upper lip can be lifted to a more youthful position, rejuvenating the overall appearance. However, the lip lift can be suitable for younger patients, too. In these cases, patients may choose a lip lift to raise the upper lip, shortening the distance between the nose and the mouth and making the teeth more visible. In any case, the lip lift is an effective technique for achieving a variety of cosmetic goals.
Benefits of Lip Lift
Benefits of the lip lift treatment include:
- Correct signs of aging in the lips
- Raise the upper lip to a more youthful appearance
- Reduce the space between the nose and mouth
- Make the teeth more visible
Who is the Ideal Candidate for a Lip Lift?
The ideal candidate for a lip lift is a patient who is struggling with any of the cosmetic concerns listed above, and looking for a surgical solution that can produce longer-lasting results than injectable treatments. However, the best way to determine your candidacy for a lip lift is to schedule a consultation with Dr. David Klein or Dr. Andrew Kochuba. During this consultation, they can determine if the lip lift technique is the best solution for you.
What is the Lip Lift Procedure Like?
The lip lift procedure may be performed with local or general anesthesia. During a lip lift, incisions are made around the base of the nose, where any scarring will blend in with the natural contours of the face and result in a natural appearance. Through these incisions, the skin will be lifted and excess skin will be removed, pulling the lip to a higher position on the face. This procedure may take up to two hours to perform.
What Can I Expect After the Lip Lift Procedure?
After your lip lift procedure, you can expect swelling, bruising and discomfort in and around the lips. You may have difficulty eating or speaking immediately following your treatment, and may need to adjust your diet accordingly. Typically, patients take about one week off of work and other activities to rest as much as possible. During this time, you’ll have to take special care to avoid foods and activities that may cause injury to the lips as they heal. On the day of your procedure, we’ll provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to help you successfully navigate the recovery process. Results will be visible immediately, but your final results may not be visible until swelling and related side effects completely subdue.
