Dimple Surgery in Charlotte, NC
Dimples are a highly sought after facial feature. While you may think you have to be born with this quality to enjoy them, the dimple surgery technique can actually help any patient achieve dimples. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Klein and board-eligible plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Kochuba offer the dimple surgery technique to patients of HKB Renaissance Plastic Surgery, serving patients in Charlotte, Harrisburg and Salisbury, NC.
What is Dimple Surgery?
Dimple surgery, or dimple creation surgery, is a cosmetic procedure performed to create the appearance of dimples in the face. Typically, the appearance of dimples is caused by a small opening in the cheek muscles, which is only visible when smiling. To create dimples for patients without this feature, the opening is simply created in the cheek muscles where it would usually occur. This can be done in a relatively minor surgery, making it a popular treatment for patients who are interested in achieving the appearance of natural dimples.
Benefits of Dimple Surgery
Benefits of dimple surgery include:
- Natural-looking dimples in the cheeks
- No visible scarring
- Quick procedure with minimal downtime
Who is the Ideal Candidate for Dimple Surgery?
The ideal candidate for dimple surgery is a patient in good overall health who is interested in achieving dimples. However, the best way to determine your candidacy for dimple surgery is to schedule a consultation with Dr. David Klein or Dr. Andrew Kochuba. During this consultation, they can determine if the dimple surgery technique is the best solution for you.
What is the Dimple Surgery Procedure Like?
The dimple surgery procedure is a relatively minor surgery, which can be performed with local anesthesia. During treatment, an incision will be made on the inside of the cheeks, eliminating any visible scarring. From here, Dr. Andrew Kochuba and Dr. David Klein will manipulate the cheek muscles, called the buccinator muscles, to create a small opening that will result in the appearance of dimples. This treatment may take up to an hour to complete.
What Can I Expect After the Dimple Surgery Procedure?
After dimple surgery, you can expect some minor swelling and discomfort in the cheeks. However, you will be able to return to most activities without any difficulties. In the first few days following treatment, you may need to adjust your diet and certain activities in order to prevent stressing the cheeks while the body heals. However, most patients make a full recovery within two weeks of treatment. The full results of treatment will become visible as the body heals.
