Chemical Peels in Charlotte, NC
Chemical peels can be used to improve the appearance of your skin. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. David F. Klein, and board-eligible plastic surgeon, Dr. Andrew Kochuba, specialize in light, medium and deep chemical peels to help men and women in Charlotte, Salisbury, Harrisburg, Concord and surrounding areas of North Carolina look and feel their very best.
What are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels are safe and effective combinations of special acids that are clinically proven to remove damaged layers of skin. Dr. Klein and Dr. Andrew Kochuba will recommend one of three chemical peels:
- Light chemical peel, also known as a “lunchtime peel,” to help with superficial flaws and dull complexion
- Medium chemical peel to help with fine lines, age spots, freckles and certain types of discoloration
- Deep chemical peel for men and women with acne scars, moderate wrinkles, freckles and age spots
Benefits of Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are relatively quick procedures that can improve your appearance without surgery. The light chemical peel does not require downtime, only an enhanced sunscreen. Medium and deep peels offer the greatest improvement to damaged skin, but these peels also require a recovery period and some downtime.
Who is the Ideal Candidate for Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels are safe for most patients. Those with sensitive skin and women who are pregnant should consider other cosmetic options.
What Do I Need to Do Before Chemical Peels?
The FDA has approved chemical peels for cosmetic purposes, but the acids that are used can cause damage if they are administered improperly. In order to achieve the best possible results from your chemical peel, we recommend that you start with a consultation at HKB Renaissance Plastic Surgery. Dr. Klein and Dr. Andrew Kochuba use a patient-centered approach that provides you with accurate information and realistic expectations so that you can make an informed decision about your treatment.
How Long Does It Take to Perform Chemical Peels?
The amount of time it will take for your chemical peel depends on:
- The depth of the peel (light, medium or deep)
- The combination of chemicals used
- The cosmetic imperfections that are being corrected
Dr. Klein and Dr. Andrew Kochuba will explain the details of your chemical peel during the consultation appointment.
What to Expect After Chemical Peels
A light chemical peel may cause a slight redness to your skin. It may also flake somewhat. Medium and deep chemical peels cause moderate flaking and some scabbing. You may have to use prescription ointment to help with the healing process.
Will I Have Scars After Getting Chemical Peels?
You will not have scars as a result of your chemical peel. Medium and deep peels can reduce the appearance of scars in the treatment area.
When Will I See the Results?
Light chemical peels give you the most immediate results. For medium to deep peels, the healing period varies by patient. Dr. Klein and Dr. Andrew Kochuba will explain your individual results during the consultation appointment.
How Long Will the Results of Chemical Peels Last?
Light chemical peels can be used monthly to exfoliate the skin. Medium and deep peels should not be repeated more than twice a year.
How Much Does Chemical Peels Cost in Charlotte?
Chemical peels are not covered by insurance, and we are best able to provide an accurate cost after your consultation with Dr. Klein and Dr. Andrew Kochuba. We will also explain our payment options, which include cash, checks and major credit cards. Financing is available through CareCredit®.
