Breast Augmentation in Charlotte, NC
One of the most popular procedures offered at Renaissance Plastic Surgery is breast augmentation. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. David F. Klein, helps women in Charlotte, Salisbury, Harrisburg, Concord and surrounding areas of North Carolina who want to improve various aspects of their breasts.
What is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation, is a cosmetic procedure that changes the shape and size of the breasts. Many women want breast augmentation to make their breasts larger, but the surgery also helps with asymmetry and changes that occur when a woman is pregnant and breastfeeding. A woman may also like the shape and size of her breasts, but consider breast augmentation to give the breasts a fuller, more rounded appearance. Whatever your personal reason is for considering breast augmentation, you can feel confident that the patient-centered approach of Dr. Klein will make you feel comfortable and confident about your decision.
Benefits of Breast Augmentation
There are many benefits of breast augmentation, such as:
- Correcting breasts that have little to know volume in the upper portion
- Restoring breast volume after pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Improving the symmetry of the breasts
- Enlarging breast size
- Enhancing cleavage
Who is the Ideal Candidate for Breast Augmentation?
Almost any woman can undergo breast augmentation. The primary consideration for a breast augmentation is to make sure that you have realistic expectations of the surgery, on both a physical and emotional level. You may not be able to go as large as you want because of your individual anatomy. Dr. Klein may recommend a smaller size than what you want to ensure that your new breasts fit well with your body proportions. He is there to provide guidance, but the decision is ultimately up to you. If you are unsure about having a breast augmentation, Dr. Klein may recommend that you use prosthetics to see how you feel before you commit to the surgery.
What Do I Need to Do Before Breast Augmentation?
Although breast augmentation is a common plastic surgery, not every surgeon is qualified to make decisions during the surgery that will achieve the best possible results. This is why you may hear stories about women who had breast augmentations but are unhappy with the outcome. We recommend that you schedule a consultation with Dr. Klein before you decide to move forward with the surgery. In addition to explaining the surgery and anticipated results, Dr. Klein will also describe the types of silicone and saline implants that are available.
How Long Does It Take to Perform Breast Augmentation?
Each woman has a unique anatomy, so it is difficult to say exactly how long your breast augmentation will take. On average, breast augmentations take 60 to 90 minutes.
What to Expect After Breast Augmentation
At the end of the surgery, your breasts are wrapped in a compression bandage to keep the tissues in place. This ensures that your breasts heal properly and also minimizes swelling and discomfort. You will need to have someone drive you home and stay with you for a few days. You will return to our office after three to five days to have the bandage removed and so Dr. Klein can check your progress.
For the first three to five days, you will need to limit your activities quite a bit, including avoiding the use of your arms. After this, you can resume very light and easy activities. Do not exercise for several weeks.
After seven to 10 days, you will have another follow-up appointment at our office to have the sutures removed and to evaluate your progress. Your breasts may feel very firm due to the swelling which can also mask the results of your breast augmentation. The swelling can take several months to subside.
Will I Have Scars After Getting Breast Augmentation?
All surgeries cause scars, but Dr. Klein places the incisions in areas where the scars are less noticeable once they heal. Initially, the scars will have a pinkish color, but this will fade to a light brown or tan over 12 months.
When Will I See the Results?
You will notice a difference in your breast shape and size right after the surgery. You will see full results in six to 12 months when the swelling has disappeared.
How Long Will the Results of Breast Augmentation Last?
A breast augmentation is a cosmetic solution for women who want to improve the shape and size of their breasts. At some point, you may want to have the implants replaced.
