Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) in Charlotte, NC
As you look in the mirror trying to figure out why you look older, one of the last facial features you consider may be your eyelids. Board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Klein and Dr. Kochuba, can explain how drooping eyelids add years to your appearance and how he has helped men and women in Charlotte, Salisbury, Harrisburg, Concord and surrounding areas of North Carolina look younger with blepharoplasty, cosmetic surgery for the eyelids.
What is Blepharoplasty?
Your upper eyelids are prone to developing excess pockets of fat that add weight and cause the lids to sag over your eyeball. This gives you a tired appearance and can even interfere with your eyesight. Your lower eyelids may sag as well, which exposes the soft pink tissue inside the eyelid. Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that removes excess fat and skin from the upper and/or lower eyelids.
Benefits of Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery at HKB Renaissance Plastic Surgery helps by:
- Giving your eyes a more alert appearance
- Reducing vision problems caused by the upper eyelid sagging over the eyeball
- Minimizing your risk of eye infections by correcting lower eyelids that expose the delicate pink tissue inside the lid
Who is the Ideal Candidate for Blepharoplasty?
The ideal candidate for blepharoplasty is an adult man or woman who has excess fat and skin on the upper eyelid and/or lower eyelids that sag and look puffy due to excess fat.
What Do I Need to Do Before Eyelid Surgery?
Blepharoplasty produces amazing results when it is performed correctly. Dr. Klein and Dr. Kochuba are board-certified plastic surgeons who specializes in eyelid surgery. Their patients love the results they get with Dr. Klein’s and Dr. Kochuba’s skill and expertise. If you are considering eyelid surgery, we recommend that you schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Klein and Dr. Kochuba.
How Long Does It Take to Perform Blepharoplasty?
Eyelid surgery takes one to three hours.
What to Expect After Eyelid Surgery
Your eyes will be covered with a bandage, and you will not be able to see. You will need to have someone drive you home and stay with you for a few days. Your eyes may feel dry and itchy. We will provide an ointment that should be used as directed. After the bandages are removed, your vision may be blurry. You can manage swelling and discomfort by gently applying cold compresses and taking non-prescription pain medication. The swelling is minimized if you sleep with your head elevated.
Will I Have Scars After Getting Blepharoplasty?
The incisions for eyelid surgery are made in the crease of the eye above the eyelid and on the inside of the lower lid. The scars are not noticeable.
When Will I See the Results?
You will start to see the results of your blepharoplasty after a few weeks, although the swelling may last for several months.
How Long Will the Results of Eyelid Surgery Last?
Blepharoplasty removes excess fat and skin from the eyelids, so the results are considered mostly long-lasting. Some patients do accumulate new fat and stretched skin, so a second, less intense surgery may be needed.
How Much Does Blepharoplasty Cost in Charlotte?
Except in very rare cases, blepharoplasty is considered an elective procedure by your insurance carrier. You are responsible for the total cost. After your consultation, we will provide an accurate cost based on your personal treatment plan. Payment can be made by cash, check, major credit card and CareCredit® financing.
